Shoot the New Year source photo before midnight
Take the Halloween Paws AI source photo in afternoon or early-evening lamp light. Midnight is for doors, dogs, and guests — not for your first sharp frame.

Photograph your dog hours before midnight — ideally in afternoon window light or with a lamp in front of the face. Then generate Midnight Celebration, Golden Elegance, or Fireworks Spectacular while everyone is still patient. One credit needs one sharp frame. Midnight light, midnight noise, and midnight guests are how that frame disappears.
4:12 p.m. is a better timestamp than 11:59
At 4:12 p.m. the backyard still has a strip of usable light. Harbor, a black-and-tan mutt, will sit for a piece of apple. At 11:59 he will be a moving rumor in a kitchen full of hips. Take the apple photo. That EXIF time is allowed to disagree with your caption. Halloween Paws AI does not grade timestamps. It grades whether a face exists. If you are superstitious about shooting on the 31st, shoot at 4:12 on the 31st. If you are practical, shoot on the 30th and spend New Year's Eve not opening the camera. A short checklist that fits on a sticky note
Face toward the lens or three-quarter. Eyes open. Ears in the frame. Light in front, not a bright window behind a black coat. No hat brim. No kid hand. No wine stem. No filter. Take ten frames. Turn on a lamp. Sit on the floor. Wait for a still second. Do not use Night mode on a moving face if you can avoid it. Do not go outside without a leash because the porch "has better vibes." Get the best indoor still you can, generate at Subtle, and accept a quieter file. January 1 morning is a legal time to try again with leftover credits. A Dramatic Fireworks Spectacular generated from a 12:40 a.m. mess is how people decide the app does not work. The app needed the 4:12 p.m. apple. You can still take an apple photo tomorrow.
Tips that actually change the file
- Set a phone reminder at 3:30 p.m. on the 30th and the 31st labeled "Harbor face."
- Wipe the camera lens; holiday kitchens make greasy glass.
- If you only remember one light rule, put the lamp in front of the muzzle.
- Keep the apple or treat out of the frame so the model does not keep a floating snack.
- When the file is saved, tell the group chat the dog photo is done so they stop asking.
