Photograph each dog alone, run the same Christmas look and intensity, then place the portraits on one card. Two credits beat one blurry pile.

Do not pose both dogs under the tree at once. Photograph each dog alone in the same light, then run the same look — Santa's Workshop, Winter Wonderland, or Cozy Fireplace — at the same intensity. Put the two files on one card; you will spend one credit per dog.
The pile-under-the-tree photo is a lottery
One dog looks at the camera. One dog looks at the other dog. Someone steps on a paw. You get a blur and a growl. That file will not become two good workshop portraits. It will become one confused set. Sit dog A in the dining room, window light, five frames. Put dog A away. Sit dog B in the same spot so the light matches. You now have two sources the model can keep. If you only have a group shot, crop each face and run them as two uploads if both crops are still sharp. Many group shots are not.
Same look, same intensity, or the card looks like two products

Layout: two ovals beat one fake hug
Place the portraits side by side with a cream gap. Do not force a composite hug unless you know what you are doing; mismatched necks look like a third animal. Names under each oval. One greeting. If sizes differ — a Dane and a Chihuahua — do not scale the Chihuahua up to Dane skull size. Keep real scale and let the Dane's oval be larger, or use matching head-and-shoulder crops so both faces are the same size on paper. Matching face size reads as a set.
