Make the dog portrait first, at Medium, in one Christmas look. Place humans in a smaller strip or on the back, or leave them off. Matching pajamas are optional. A sharp dog face with a short greeting is a complete family card.
Shoot the dog alone, then decide if humans belong
Group photos fail because someone blinks and the dog looks at the treat. Solve the dog first. Sit them on the couch, window light, head and shoulders. If you still want humans, take a separate, ordinary photo the same week and print it smaller on the inside or the back. You are not required to force everyone into one frame. When the dog should not be the only face
If the card is for a relative who has never met the dog and wants to see the new baby, put the baby on the front and the dog on the back.
